Showcasing our province’s top young
innovators, entrepreneurs, inventors,
mavericks and rebels.

About Us

Alberta’s Top Young Innovators showcases the province’s top innovative and entrepreneurial achievers aged 15-30. This is the province’s only awards program designed to spotlight the importance of youth innovation across an inclusive range of industries and sectors. The intent is also to support and build capacity for youth-based innovation by providing post awards programming.

Celebrating Alberta’s Top Young Innovators

Alberta’s Top Young Innovators identifies and showcases Alberta’s top innovative and entrepreneurial achievers aged 15-30.

Capacity for Youth Based Innovation

To sustain youth based innovation across Alberta, we need to directly invest in the innovators themselves at the root level. Building capacity starts at the foundation.

Career Confidence Mechanism

This program identifies and rewards top young innovators, regardless of industry or sector focus.

Diversified and Strengthened Economy

To keep Alberta’s economy strong and diversified, we need to continue investing in social capital. Our people are our greatest asset.

Alberta’s Innovation Ecosystem

Beyond the ‘Innovators Network’ this awards program contributes to a broader, pre-existing innovation ecosystem.

Accelerated Innovators Network

Successful, innovating youth will cross paths with one another 5, 10 and 15 years down the road. Let’s reduce this timetable.

History & The Future

Alberta’s Top Young Innovators successfully launched its beta awards program in 2016.

More than 25 partners spanning business, academic and non-profit sectors participated to make the Alberta program and awards event a success including ATB Financial, University of Calgary, NAIT, Metro News, Mount Royal University, The Mayor’s Office of Calgary, and The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award.

Due to the success of the Alberta program, we have created Ontario’s Top Young Innovators. We launched the program at the 2016 Queen’s University Innovation Summit. You can learn more here.
